File In: Things I Found On Teh Intarwebz
Reading this Movie|Line article on "The 9 Most Memorable Paycheck Roles In Modern Cinema," I saw this picture:

Which really made me want to do a 'thought bubble' for Marlon that would go something like "Hmmm, with the per pound price that'd be.... I'll take it."

But that would be so unkind.
Almost Sorta Kinda Live From Lycurgus's Neighborhood
This handsome fellow is a Painted Bunting in a growth of mangrove along a canal in central Florida. Pic was taken with a 10X zoom by a neighbor of Brother Lycurgus. If a bird chose to dress like that, I'd have no hesitation introducing him to Ricky Martin.

More From The Critter Cam
Blogging has been light of late as there is so much ferment and foment going on that I've been dry. The excitement is out there and my adding some form of dittoes post would really be, well, not gilding the lily but more like overwhelming the lily. Just not really needed.
Yet posting ... is good. So I'm posting a few more shots from the Boca Grande Critter Cam, including the LaserFox! How exciting.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
And it's already significantly melted. Ah well. It was fun while it lasted.

You've Waited Long Enough
Context. Is that not sweet?

Inscrutable
And totally lacking in context.

A Saturday Moment Of Zen
The view not exactly from Lycurgus's back porch but darn close. You'll notice the blue Bimini top and the swim ladder (in the upright position) to the left of the engine. If my memory serves, it's a 17' TwinVee. Strikingly quiet and wonderfully smooth riding. It's a great vessel to have along the Gulf Coast.

A Promised Pic

OK, OK, No More Foot
Apart from the big larf I got on my co-blogger's post below, my foot is inching back to normal so I'll kvit kvetching about it and instead post a pic of my new guitar. It's a PRS SE ("Student Edition") Custom Semi-Hollow. It doesn't have the tonal variation of my others (notably the 513 and the Swamp Ash Special) but a guitar doesn't need to have a huge tonal range when it sounds as good as a PRS. Even a Korean-made PRS.

News From Pug Acres North
The XMBD NMSE just sent me a picture which is far too charming not to share. In the middle is Weenie who is, and I quote, "a 10.5-yr-old Mini Dachshund weighing in at a whopping 9.5 pounds and making pugs look ginormous." The name came with the dog who was adopted just before Christmas.
I think this was effort by the ranch owners of Pug Acres North to cowboy up (i.e. "get a long, little doggie") and move toward a position where the average of dog snout length begins to approach the norm. Weenie is described as "a hoot." I believe it. Dash hounds are scrappy but sweet. May Weenie have a nice long run at his new home.

Reportage
A while back I mentioned that I managed to stab myself in the leg with the box cutter I was using to trim the interior "floor" of the ErfBox. And I promised to leave a record of the event. So, here is a pic of the pants I was wearing, the hole in them and the bloodstain that resulted. I include in the picture a pen, for scale, that was turned out of osage orange and walnut wood by a friend of mine. I may as well put something good and cool in an otherwise kinda revoltin' pic. So without further ado:

I find your lack of snacks ... disturbing.

Change of Pace
Not foodblogging this time. Though that'll probably change by the next post. No, this is another picture post. Lycurgus sent me a pic of storms brewing over lovely Englewood, Fla and the wonderfully ominous vibe was such that I wanted to share it here on PoW. Note the way the grey clouds flow in an echo of the similarly steely water and the boat provides a punch of highlight in an otherwise low-contrast scene. Nicely done:

My LOLcat
Insty links to this post at The Speculist about a cat who cuddles up to nursing home patients who are about to die. The Speculists's point: "Not to go all Occam's Razor or anything, but has it occurred to anyone to ask whether this cat might be somehow killing these people?" And there's a picture which leads to the necessary Photoshopping....

Bluetooth Rawks
Here's a picture of a van that was parked next to me at my local Trader Joe's. Cute. Obviously not someone who cares about aerodynamics though. Click pic for larger view.

I uploaded the pic from my cell phone via Bluetooth (brief happy dance). I love not having to physically connect anything even though I may have to scrumble through some software to do it. And the vehicle? This is the reason cell phones have cameras.
