Why Am I Not Rich?
Because, if I were, I would be wasting my assets on a self- build P-38 Lightning replica. I have always harbored the desire to build a kit plane but the idea of building my own scaled-down P-38 is just so perfectly insane that I fall in love with the world that offers us humans such things all over again.
Of course I would also have to find Lycurgus a ranch with a landing strip so we could do fly-ins. Yeah. I so would.

Oh yeah! How cool... Wonder how many feet of grass runway it would require? There are lots of fly-in neighborhoods in Florida. Saw one real estate booth at last year's Sun 'n Fun fly-in in Lakeland devoted to just such place. You should think about coming to Sun 'n Fun - second biggest EAA meet after Oshkosh. Lots of cool stuff there...

The Lockheed P-38 “Lightning” was named the "fork-tailed devil" by the Luftwaffe and "two planes, one pilot" by the Japanese. So that I may enjoy its “full fun” potential, I would require the standard P-38 armament of one 20-mm cannon and four 0.50-inch machine guns be installed in the nose of my kit…of course…the addition of up to 4,000 pounds of external weapons including bombs and rockets would really “snap my carrot”!.

The .50s I think you could do. If you don't mind semi-auto feed. Otherwise, could be difficult.
